The machines offer a continuous operating cycle, which ensures higher performance, lower energy consumption and better efficiency for optimum management of different product sizes. Wrapping lies at the heart of the packaging operation and this is one of the stages to which Microline’s designers have devoted most attention. During this stage, AL 80 and FAST WRAP1250 save about 25% more wrapping material than other machines used on the market due to minimal film overlapping. The complete absence of waste also ensures a continuous working cycle. Both machines offer perfectly synchronised movements and an electronic cam drive system. These factors optimise energy consumption and reduce downtimes due to size changes. Microline machines ensure a saving of approximately 30% on the internal packaging and heat-shrink cycle compared to other packaging systems commonly used on the market. All this is kinder on the environment and means savings for the customer.

Innovation and flexibility for wrapping non-woven products https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/Innovation and flexibility for wrapping non-woven products Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 The increasing popularity of non-woven products on the market led Microline to develop specific solutions to manage wrapping stages. This material is often converted in a similar way to folded products typical of the tissue sector, such as napkins and table cloths. Microline manages this stage using innovative side-loading and top-loading case packers. These optimise product transport while making it easier to display products directly on the shelf. The available feed systems allow plenty of scope for arranging products inside the boxes. This makes Microline solutions ideal for customers who need to manage a wide product range.

Remote support: a long-standing customer support tradition  https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/Remote support: a long-standing customer support tradition  Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 The packaging world has been abuzz with news of Industry 4.0 for years, and particularly technologies for line automation and remote assistance. Few companies can boast Microline’s experience in this field. This Emilia-Romagna-based company has always put its customers first and foremost, seeking the best ways to ensure prompt and ongoing support. Microline was among the first to invest in protocols that allow machine parameters to be modified remotely, starting with remote assistance via modem in 2005. In 2013, the company achieved a further breakthrough, creating the MRA (Microline Remote Assistance) system that can be optionally implemented in all the company’s machines. It is based on the very latest TCP/IP protocols that grant access to components such as PLC, controllers, inverters, safety modules, drives and control panels. Nowadays, Microline uses the latest hardware and software tools to ensure constant contact through technology in order to remain close to its customers, even at a distance. A stable connection that ensures security: the customer’s factory is connected directly to the Microline corporate network.

Technology corner: product focus, beginning with the feed system https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/Technology corner: product focus, beginning with the feed system Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 Numerous factors have contributed to the market success of the AL80. This roll packaging unit is an ideal blend of strength and performance. Its packaging material requirements have been cut by using very fine film and a packaging process without any waste trimmings. Like all units designed by Microline, the machine construction is modular and can be adapted to work with different types of feeding systems. The AL 80 also offers full compatibility with all Microline units for handling dedicated tissue products, such as stackers and upenders in addition to switching devices such as dividers and adding units. The feed stage requires precise and gentle handling of the product, to ensure that it is not marked or scored in any way. Given the delicacy of the product, this part of the process is crucial for avoiding production waste. The AL 80 is also extremely flexible, offering the option of working with different types of product, from individual items to 1x2 and 1x3 configurations. The handling capacity varies according to roll configuration and diameter. It can be as much as 210 rolls per minute.

The partnership with Paperdì: development and orders https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/The partnership with Paperdì: development and orders Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 The first order placed by the Neapolitan company was for a side-loading case packer that was fitted to an interfolded towel and toilet paper line. The second was for a dedicated high-performance line for hospital paper rolls production, while the third order was fitted downstream of a state-of-the-art interfolded towel and toilet paper line. A few months ago, testing was completed and the satisfaction was mutual. Three fully functional, high-tech, high-performance plants were built. These were all in line with Industry 4.0 principles, fully automatic and connected to the rest of the plant. The challenge was to make the machines flexible and versatile as well as high-performing and efficient. The unit dedicated to the secondary packaging of hospital paper rolls can work with three different formats. The same applies to the interfolded product packaging machines, which can handle interfolded towels and toilet paper. All this has been achieved without sacrificing performance. The hospital paper roll case packer can handle up to 70 products per minute, while the units for interfolded products can handle up to 120 packs of interfolded toilet paper per minute or 80 packs of interfolded towels per minute.

UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Policy https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Policy Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 The quest for quality has always been a guiding principle for our company. Microline’s dedicated Quality Policy aims to offer customers a product that fully meets their expectations, while complying with the need to optimise internal resources. All this is done without sacrificing investment in technology, which is still central to our internal and external development and improvement philosophy. The guidelines followed by Microline comply with the UNI-EN-ISO-9001:2015 standard and involve a series of processes to be followed carefully and consistently with the aim of identifying customers needs while pinpointing any problems that may arise during each project. Every job has its own challenges, but success is always determined by the efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes, from design to line set-up.

Continual technological updating of the equipment and instruments used in the different production processes is of primary importance. It is equally necessary to invest in the ongoing training of staff, who need to follow a series of procedures scrupulously to support the efficiency of the entire process while also keeping up to date with the latest developments. The Quality Policy must also undergo periodic reviews to ensure it remains effective and appropriate over time. Lastly, it is essential to ensure that present and future activities and products comply with specifications established by European directives and laws in force in our target markets. In the interests of maximum transparency, our Quality Policy is available to all customers who wish to read it.

Microline, end-of-line: the palletisers https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/Microline, end-of-line: the palletisers Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 Numerous domestic and international manufacturers acknowledge Microline’s excellent design skills, build quality and ability to innovate, holding in high regard its range of automated machinery, including secondary packaging and end-of-line solutions. The hallmark technology and attention to detail of its primary packaging machinery are to be found once again with the added advantage that case packer and palletiser design makes them suitable for a vast range of products. So not only solutions for the tissue sector, the company’s flagship, but also the cosmetic and food industry, designed to be cutting edge, but at the same time sustainable and long-lasting.

Microline palletisers

The company can also offer the customer a comprehensive end-of-line management solution, assessing all requirements relating to product type and output speed. Palletisers are utilised that can be paired with both case packers and shrink wrappers/bundlers. These have a portal or semi-portal frame based on interpolated Cartesian coordinates with four degrees of freedom.

The packed product (bundle, bag or box) travels along a motorised conveyor from the packaging machine to the palletising area. Here, depending on the model selected and collation type, a gripper picks up one or more bags/boxes for positioning on the pallet according to the required configuration. After completing either manual or automatic positioning of the product on the pallet, the latter is transferred to the storage area.

The machines can handle up to 3 incoming product lines and the same number of pallet stations.

Finally, the “standard” model can be fitted with a set of optionals for fully-automated processing, e.g. semi-automatic or automatic pallet change and special collators. Turning to the gripper systems utilised, the most common are: mechanical pick & place (standard) and vacuum pick & place (optional).

So not only solutions for the tissue sector, the company’s flagship, but also the cosmetic and food industry, designed to be cutting edge, but at the same time sustainable and long-lasting.

Microline case packers

Microline automatic case packers are used in various sectors: from tissue and food to cosmetics, disposables and personal hygiene. The company’s product range includes both side-loading case packers (ROM), specifically designed to form stackable products of defined shape, and top-loading case packers (RVM) that are instead used for high-speed production of non-stackable, soft or hard, regular- and irregular-shaped products (containing products such as cereals, pasta, biscuits, coffee pods, etc.).

These machines are designed to erect and fill slotted cases, i.e. pre-glued blanks of both the RSC or shelf-ready type, in an entirely automated manner.

Both models are available in different versions depending on size of the cases to be processed (min. 200 mm × 150 mm × 80 mm, max. 800 mm × 600 mm × 650 mm), type of product the case contains and required output speed. Hot-melt-glue or adhesive-tape sealing systems are available or a combination of both.

Depending on customer requirements, various optionals can enhance the capabilities of each machine, including an additional blank magazine or case erectors.

FAST WRAP 1250, MICROLINE’S FAST & FLEXIBLE FLOW WRAPPER https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/FAST WRAP 1250, MICROLINE’S FAST & FLEXIBLE FLOW WRAPPER Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 Fast Wrap 1250 is the new Microline bundler designed for the Tissue sector. It is a continuous-motion flow wrapper for AFH paper rolls (industrial use) designed to arrange, collate and bag an extensive size range.
The company’s aim with this new multi-pack bundler is to provide customers with version 2.0 of its existing range of bundlers, ensuring improved performance and even greater flexibility.
Production speed is the first feature in which Microline decided to invest time and research: indeed, Fast Wrap 1250 can pack 25 bags per minute without compromising the eventual quality of the products contained therein and the packaging’s appearance. Operation is based on the same principle as the other Microline wrappers that are already a firm market favourite: wrapping is achieved by placing the film around the prearranged rolls, joining and subsequently sealing the edges at the top of the bag. Front and rear sealing is performed by a hot bar self-centring system (box-motion cycle) that separates the bundles.
One of the main benefits of the new Fast Wrap 1250 is the extensive size range available with the possibility of performing most size changeovers direct from the control panel. A feature than makes the machine extremely flexible and readily adaptable to the requirements of a very large customer base.
Upon request, the machine can process neutral, neutral with stepper-type label insertion or preprinted film.
In line with the company philosophy for every Microline-developed design, Fast Wrap also carries out the packaging process without producing packaging material waste or trimmings, thus avoiding downtime for waste removal, disposal costs and unnecessary wastage of the packaging material. Microline corporate philosophy also enjoys additional benefits by cutting energy running costs and reducing the quantity of packaging material utilised compared to its competitors by between 10% and 30%.
A faster, but at the same time versatile, bundler providing a response to the tissue sector’s increasing production needs without forsaking Microline technology‘s trademark quality and reliability.

MRA remote assistance system, Microline’s step towards Industry 4.0 https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/MRA remote assistance system, Microline’s step towards Industry 4.0 Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 Optimising production line operation is no longer a problem for Microline customers who can now benefit from an innovative remote assistance system available as an optional for its machinery. This technology has been developed so that the company can communicate with a customer in need of support and assistance; a convenient and practical solution that can save both time and money. When required, Microline’s specialist staff can identify the problem in real time and provide suitable instructions to enable it to be solved in record time. With a simple Internet connection, a VPN connection is established between the MRA unit and Microline server, enabling use of the remote assistance system delivering on-demand communication with the company. A Microline specialist staff member can therefore intervene directly without actually visiting the customer’s premises, instead allowing technology to take him there virtually in order to provide assistance.

The company has therefore taken a further step towards Industry 4.0, ensuring that its clients have a fast and efficient service capable of solving a problem with just one click.

NEWS: CENTRE-FOLDING UNIT https://www.microlinesrl.it/en/news/ NEWS: CENTRE-FOLDING UNIT Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100 (dimensions of flat sheet reel: 440 – 1300 mm – outer diameter Ø 300)

A device that can be combined with the AL80 flow wrapper, it is capable of folding film (neutral or printed) fed from a flat-sheet reel in the centre (V fold or centre fold). Manageable as an optional, it enables the AL80 wrapper to work with centre-folded reels or flat sheet reels.
The advantages of installing the new device include: purchase of film at a lower price, reduction in the frequency of reel changes, reduction in downtimes due to reel replacement, reduction in the negative effects due to static electricity, easier management of printed materials (elimination of problems of “gluing” in centre folding during the printing and rewinding process).
